Justteachers are looking for a compassionate and dedicated part-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at a specialist school in Rugby. The school caters to students with a variety of additional needs, providing a safe and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

This is a part-time position with flexible hours, starting after the February half term, with the potential to go permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with special educational needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and SEN coordinators to deliver tailored learning strategies.
  • Assist students with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support where required.
  • Encourage independence by helping students develop life skills and self-management techniques.
  • Collaborate with other professionals such as speech and language therapists and occupational therapists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.

Criteria:

  • Experience supporting students with additional needs in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by students with special educational needs, including sensory and communication difficulties.
  • Experience with communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or other visual aids is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
  • Two education or school-based references.
