We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Kirklees on a full-time, long-term basis from February half-term 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an inspiring educator to make a real impact, fostering a love for drama and performance in students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

As a Drama & Performing Arts Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, interactive, and high-quality lessons that inspire creativity, confidence, and self-expression. You will play a key role in developing students’ acting, performance, and theatrical skills while encouraging teamwork and collaboration. The role includes planning and delivering dynamic lessons, directing school productions and performances, and contributing to the wider performing arts curriculum.

You will be joining a supportive and collaborative faculty with excellent resources and facilities, including a dedicated drama studio and performance spaces. The school values the performing arts and encourages creativity, with opportunities to lead extracurricular activities such as drama clubs, theatre trips, and school productions.

The ideal candidate will have strong subject knowledge and be able to adapt teaching strategies to support students of all abilities. You should be confident in leading both practical and theoretical drama lessons, covering aspects such as script work, improvisation, stagecraft, and performance analysis. Experience in GCSE Drama is essential, and the ability to teach A-Level or BTEC Performing Arts would be highly advantageous.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching Drama and Performing Arts at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential).
  • A passion for theatre and performance, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Strong classroom management and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • A proactive approach to planning and delivering creative and engaging lessons.
  • Experience in directing school plays, musicals, or drama showcases is a plus.
