Justteachers is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated 1:1 SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to support a student in an Oldham-based primary school school. This role is to start ASAP on a long term basis until at least summer 2025.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to join a lovely primary school with excellent facilities and a supportive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with SEND needs.
  • Assist the student in class activities, focusing on their individual learning goals.
  • Help the student with emotional and behavioral support when necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SENDCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to ensure a tailored learning experience.
  • Assist with managing classroom behavior and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Support with personal care (if required) and facilitate the student’s independence.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with students with SEND (desirable but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to helping children achieve their full potential.
  • Relevant qualifications or a keen interest in pursuing a career in education (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent).
  • Two education or school-based references
  • Will be subject to Enhanced DBS checks or be willing to apply for one.
