Justteachers is seeking a full time SEN Teaching assistant at a SEN school based in Dereham. This role is starting as soon as possible and will be on a long-term supply basis until the summer of 2025.

Working as a SEN Teaching assistant will require you to always be fast thinking and engaging with the students you are working with. There will be times in the day where you will be in small groups as well. The school caters for students aged between the ages of 8-19. The classes are small, with only around 5-8 children per class so it will be very interactive throughout the day. The ideal candidate will be some patient, passionate and someone who wants to make a difference!

The school is renowned for its inclusive ethos and fostering a nurturing environment where both students and staff can excel.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Support students with SEN, including those with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs, both in one-to-one and group settings.
  • Assist teachers in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Reporting to class teacher to implement specialised plan for the student you’re working with
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence through the use of clear, consistent approaches.
  • Building positive relationships with parents and caregivers, maintaining open communication about student progress and well-being.

Key Requirements 

  • Previous experience working with children in a professional setting.
  • Experience supporting in SEN or SEMH environments.
  • A level 2 or 3 TA qualification is highly desirable.
  • Two education or school-based references.
