Justteachers are working with a fantastic primary school in East Manchester to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their supportive and dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support students across the school, primarily in Key Stage 1 and 2, ensuring that learning is inclusive, engaging, and tailored to individual needs.

This is a full-time, temporary position with the potential for permanent employment for the right candidate. If you’re a dedicated and enthusiastic HLTA with experience in primary education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support to individual pupils or small groups, focusing on specific learning needs
  • Assist in planning, delivering, and assessing lessons in collaboration with teaching staff
  • Support the management of classroom behaviour, promoting a positive and productive learning environment
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with additional needs
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher, offering suggestions for improvement
  • Work with students to enhance their social, emotional, and personal development
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment
  • Help with the preparation of learning resources and assist in the delivery of interventions
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for students

Requirements

  • HLTA qualification (Level 4 or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working as an HLTA or in a similar role within a primary school setting
  • A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and age-appropriate teaching strategies
  • Experience working with students with a range of needs, including special educational needs (SEN)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents
  • A positive, patient, and proactive attitude towards supporting children’s learning and development
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks effectively
  • A commitment to supporting a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture
  • Two education or school-based references
