Justteachers is offering an opportunity for an Outreach Teacher. This role will be based in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for children with special educational needs (SEND) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

We are now looking for a Teacher to join our team and support our young people throughout the county who are not able to access mainstream education We are looking for both primary and secondary trained teachers (QTS), to work in our Outreach Team.

They provide a hands-on service that supports students who can have challenging and difficult behaviour, as well as supporting students with SEND and complex needs. They also help students with their transitions back into a school environment – providing expert support and helping pupils get back on track.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring for students with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Deliver personalized lessons to cater to the specific learning needs of each student.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional and behavioural development, helping students build coping mechanisms and resilience.
  • Work closely with parents, carers and other professionals to monitor progress and adjust learning plans as necessary.
  • Support the students in both academic and personal growth, setting realistic goals and celebrating successes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report on achievements and areas for development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH, ideally in a tutoring or educational setting.
  • A solid understanding of SEND and SEMH conditions and how they impact learning.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a creative approach to teaching and learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • You will need to hold a valid driver’s licence and have access to a car.
