justteachers is seeking a patient and committed Autism Support Worker to provide 2:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in one of our partnered schools in LS8, Leeds. This role requires a compassionate individual who can work closely with another support worker to create a structured, engaging, and inclusive learning experience for the pupil.

 

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Work collaboratively with another support worker to provide tailored assistance to a pupil with autism.
  • Implement strategies that promote communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.
  • Offer a consistent and structured approach to help the pupil feel secure and supported in the school environment.
  • Assist in developing social and life skills through interaction and positive reinforcement.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure the pupil’s individual needs are met.
  • Monitor and report progress, adapting support plans as required.

Requirements and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working with children with autism, ideally in a 1:1 or 2:1 setting.
  • Knowledge of autism-friendly teaching strategies and sensory regulation techniques.
  • A calm, consistent, and patient approach to managing behaviour and supporting emotional needs.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and external professionals.
  • A valid right to work in the UK (this is a mandatory requirement).
  • An enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
