Justteachers are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a driven and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a SEN primary school in Northampton. This is a full-time position available for an immediate start. Initially offered on a supply basis, the role has the potential to become permanent for the right individual.

The school provides education for children aged 4 to 11 with a variety of complex needs. Some pupils also require support with complex medical needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in creating a positive and supportive environment where every child can thrive. From helping students access learning tailored to their individual needs to fostering their independence and confidence, your work will make a genuine difference in their lives.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting individual students or small groups with their learning, tailored to their specific needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons that are accessible, engaging, and inclusive.
  • Encouraging pupils’ development in areas such as communication, social skills, and independence.
  • Providing care and assistance with personal needs, including physical or medical support where necessary (training will be provided).
  • Helping to maintain a positive and nurturing classroom atmosphere.
  • Observing and recording pupils’ progress, contributing to their individual learning plans.

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Qualified in Teaching Assistant/Care or relevant subject.
  • Previous experience working with children with additional needs is beneficial but not essential.
  • A patient, understanding, and flexible approach to working with young learners.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the pupils and the school.
  • Two recent professional references from an educational or childcare setting
