Justteachers are looking for Teaching Assistants to work within a special educational needs provisions in the Thetford area to start immediately.

You will be required to support students with special educational needs particularly those with Autism within the classroom, directed by the teacher but also using their own experience and initiative to help pupils succeed in their learning.

The school prides themselves on providing high quality specialist education for children and young adults aged 6-16. The school cater for a wide range of learning disabilities including, Autism, Complex Medical Needs and Sensory Impairments. All pupils who attend the school have an Education, Health and Care Plan EHCP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEND needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Help students with learning activities, assisting with tasks, and providing encouragement and guidance.
  • Adapt resources and materials to meet the specific needs of individual students.
  • Assist in the implementation of students’ Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Support students in developing social skills, independence, and emotional regulation.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, parents, and other staff members.

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Proven experience supporting in children in a care or school background
  • Experience with SEN (desirable but not essential)
  • Relevant qualifications – minimum Level 2
  • Two education or school-based references
