We are currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join one of our partner SEN Colleges in Coventry. This specialised setting provides tailored education and support for young adults aged 18-24 with additional needs, helping them develop essential life skills, independence, and confidence for their future.

The college offers a supportive and inclusive environment, working closely with families, carers, and professionals to deliver personalised, therapeutic education that empowers students to reach their potential.

This full-time role is set to begin after the February half term, with the opportunity for the right candidate to transition into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with additional needs.
  • Facilitate and manage emotional regulation within the classroom environment.
  • Support students in re-engaging with learning activities after incidents.
  • Promote social interaction and assist students in developing effective communication skills.
  • Encourage student independence by teaching life skills, problem-solving, and self-management strategies.

Essential Requirements

  • Prior experience supporting young people with additional needs in an educational or care setting.
  • A clear understanding of the challenges faced by students with special educational needs, including sensory and communication difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • The ability to remain calm and proactive in managing challenging situations.
  • Two references from education or care-based roles.
