The school are seeking a Behaviour Support Worker to create a positive and inclusive environment for students who require additional behavioural support.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with students, staff, and parents to implement behaviour management strategies and interventions that promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and personal development.

The school provides support for pupils aged 5 to 16 year with a range of needs, including Social Emotional and Mental Health and Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with students who have social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, providing one-to-one or small group support.
  • Implement and monitor individualised behaviour intervention plans under the guidance of the SENCO, teachers, and other relevant staff.
  • Support students in managing and improving their behaviour, focusing on emotional regulation, self-esteem, and social skills.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with students, acting as a role model for appropriate behaviour.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to assess and address students’ behavioural needs.
  • Record and track student progress, providing regular feedback and reporting any concerns or challenges.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.

 Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
  • A sound understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to think creatively to resolve behavioural issues.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or special educational needs (SEN) are desirable but not essential.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and relevant safeguarding training.
  • A clear enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.
