We are seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Ilkley. This role involves supporting a child in Year 4 with autism, helping them to thrive in their learning environment. This full-time long-term position is due to start immediately and may be made permanent for the right candidate.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with autism, adapting strategies to meet their individual needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement and develop a personalised learning plan.
  • Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and academic development, creating a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Use your knowledge and experience to effectively manage challenging behaviours while fostering confidence and independence.
  • Build a trusting relationship with the pupil, encouraging engagement and participation in classroom activities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is essential.
  • Experience working with children with autism is essential, including knowledge of effective strategies and approaches to support their learning and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, pupils, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Two education or school-based references are essential.
