Justteachers is recruiting for a Pastoral Mentor to join a vibrant SEMH boys school in the Ely area on a long-term basis. This full-time post is due to start in February/March 2025, with shortlisting currently taking place.

The school provides, supports, and champions high-quality education at the heart of local communities. Catering to boys aged 5-16 with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) for social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, the school is dedicated to nurturing and empowering its students.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting the social, emotional, and mental well-being of students to promote positive engagement in learning.
  • Providing one-to-one mentoring sessions and group activities tailored to students’ individual needs.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other staff to create and implement effective behavior management plans.
  • Acting as a role model to encourage resilience, confidence, and positive relationships among students.
  • Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide holistic support.

 

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent in pastoral care.
  • Proven experience supporting students with SEMH or other additional needs.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and behavior management strategies.
  • Two education or school-based references.
