We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our partner schools in Wakefield. This role is open to candidates looking for full time and part time work. The successful candidate will work closely with students with a range of special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them achieve their full potential in an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the educational and social development of students with SEND, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCO.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and personalized support strategies.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping with classwork, behavior management, and social integration.
  • Modify learning materials and activities to suit the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and support interventions.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills. The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Understanding of SEND Code of Practice and strategies for supporting students with a range of needs.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and support needs.
