Justteachers is looking for a full or a part time SEMH Teacher to work at one of our SEMH schools based in Rugby. This school is a secondary SEMH school catering for children aged 11-16. An ideal Social, emotional and mental health teacher will be someone who has prior experience or understanding with SEMH and someone very caring and patient, and someone who can think on their feet if a situation arises.

The role is starting in February 2025 and is on going until the summer 2025 with the potential to continue into September 2025. The role does require the candidate to plan lessons and mark the work, and ensure all work is tailored to each students needs.

Key Duties Include:

  • Familiarise yourself with the day’s lesson plans and any specific needs of the students, including their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and learning goals.
  • Modify lesson content and teaching strategies as needed to ensure all students can engage with the material, considering their different learning styles and abilities.
  • Ensure a structured, calm, and safe learning environment. Implement behaviour management strategies, reinforcing positive behaviour and addressing challenges in line with the school’s policies.
  • Keep notes on how students are engaging with the material, their behaviour, and any interventions used. Share these records with the regular teacher for future planning.

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Level one or Two teaching assistant desirable but not essential
  • Proven experience in SEN
  • Strong knowledge of SEMH
  • QTS
