An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SEND Teacher to join a Special School in North Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a small class of 10 pupils with communication and sensory needs, covering a range of areas including cognition and learning, social emotional and mental health, sensory and physical, ASC, ADHD, and other complex needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the specific needs of pupils with communication and sensory needs.
  • Provide differentiated instruction and support to meet the diverse needs of students with various learning difficulties, including cognition and learning, social emotional and mental health, sensory and physical challenges, ASC, ADHD, and other complex needs.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Implement strategies to support students’ communication and social skills development.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including Teaching Assistants, SENCO, and external specialists, to provide holistic support to students.

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification recognised in the UK.
  • Experience working with students with SEND, particularly those with communication and sensory needs.
  • Strong understanding of a range of special educational needs, including cognition and learning difficulties, social emotional and mental health challenges, sensory and physical impairments, ASC, ADHD, and other complex needs.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
