This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist institution in Stamford as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant. This new role has been created within the provision to work with a handful of students with severe social and emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs. This specialist provision caters to pupils of all ages (8-18 years old), providing all pupils who attend with a nurturing and bespoke curriculum. In this role you will work with a small number of students alongside the classroom teacher, Educational Psychologists and the SENDCO.

  • Class sizes are small with a maximum of 12 pupils per class. The curriculum that is delivered within this provision is tailored  to the pupils attending. The bespoke curriculum within this school means they offer opportunities and lessons to support the children (e.g Agriculture therapy, cooking therapy, Art therapy and life skills learning)
  • The school holds training sessions for all staff members that are eager to expand their knowledge working with pupils displaying social, emotional and mental health behaviours.
  • The school is a safe, positive and structured environment where their aims, goals and visions are to encourage every pupil to achieve both academic goals and personal goals.

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Have experience in an Education, Care or Healthcare setting
  • Be comfortable in a challenging environment
  • Be creative, warm and inspiring
  • Two education or school-based references
  • A Clear Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one.
  • The legal right to work in the UK
