Justteachers is seeking a  Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Lincoln. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children.

The Role:
As a Supply Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide targeted assistance to students who may be experiencing mental health difficulties. Your role will involve creating a positive and supportive classroom environment, helping students develop coping strategies, and promoting overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour in a classroom setting.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualised support plans for students.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting a sense of trust and security.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a holistic approach to student well-being.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress and behaviour, providing feedback to staff.

About You:

We are looking for an empathetic and resilient individual who is dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being in young learners. You should have strong communication skills and the ability to connect with children facing a range of challenges.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in a school or similar setting.
  • Understanding of mental health issues and their impact on learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Previous experience working with children in a professional setting.
  • Two education or school-based references.
  • A clear enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • A level 2 or 3 TA qualification.
  • Qualifications in child psychology, mental health support, or relevant fields.
  • Experience in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
