Justteachers is seeking a resilient 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant Specialist School on the outskirts of Coventry. The role is to cover full time on a long-term supply basis initially, with the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate. The post is due to start as soon as possible with shortlisting currently taking place.

The school caters for children ages 9 to 19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being, enabling them to thrive both personally and academically. This is a supportive and dynamic SEMH school that values the unique contributions of its staff. Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff.
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development through tailored interventions.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support for students with SEMH needs.

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Level 1 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent
  • A resilient nature
  • Experience working within the care industry, social work, youth offenders or similar
  • Proven experience working with children or young adults with SEN or SEMH needs
  • Two-education based school references
  • A Clear, Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one
  • The legal right to work in the UK
