We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Pastoral Mentor to join a dedicated team at an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Boston. This alternative provision supports students with challenging behaviour, providing tailored care and education to help them achieve their potential. As a Pastoral Mentor, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, supportive environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students, supporting their social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Act as a key mentor for students, providing consistent guidance and encouragement.
  • Assist in the implementation of behaviour management strategies, including de-escalation techniques.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to provide holistic support for each student.
  • Monitor and track student progress, contributing to tailored action plans to address their needs.
  • Support students during transitions and challenging periods, helping them to develop resilience and coping strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour in an educational or care setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to mentoring and behaviour management.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, including working collaboratively with external agencies.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
