Justteachers is working with an outstanding special educational needs (SEN) school in Oxford, catering to students aged 9-19 with a wide range of SEN needs. The Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm position starting as soon as possible, offering a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with varying needs. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with SEN, including autism, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities, though specific experience is not essential as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering tailored lessons and activities for students with diverse SEN needs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to access the curriculum and engage in learning.
  • Assist with personal care and physical support as required.
  • Promote positive behavior and assist in managing any challenging behavior in a proactive and supportive manner.
  • Help to create and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Liaise with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff to monitor and track student progress.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience of working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Passion for working with young people and helping them to reach their full potential.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt support accordingly
