Justteachers teaching agency is working with a partner secondary school in Sheffield to find them a Science Technician. The position will be five days a week (term time) to start in January 2025. The position will be permanent for the right candidate after a qualifying period of six months.
About the role;
• Ensure the smooth running of the subject by ensuring that apparatus is operating
properly and safely for the use in practical Science lessons.
• Liaising with staff over equipment and safety issues.
• Running trials of experiments and demonstrations

Qualifications and Experience required:
• A minimum of a relevant science-based qualification, such as a GCSE (Grade C or above) in Science or a BTEC in Applied Science. A further qualification like a degree or an equivalent qualification in a science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics) is preferred.
• Experience in handling scientific equipment and laboratory apparatus, with the ability to support teachers in preparing and conducting experiments safely and effectively.
• Strong organisational abilities to maintain inventory, order supplies, and ensure the lab is well-stocked and well-maintained.
• Knowledge of and adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring that all lab activities are conducted in a safe environment for both students and staff.
• Good communication skills to collaborate with teachers and students, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy school environment
