Justteachers is seeking a dedicated and innovative SEMH Teacher to join our team at a specialized SEMH school in Pendle. This role offers a unique teaching environment with a classroom based on the water. This floating classroom approach aims to provide a calming and engaging setting to support the educational and emotional development of our students.

About the Role:

  • Innovative Environment: Teach in a floating classroom, using the tranquil water setting to enhance learning and emotional well-being.
  • Holistic Development: Work closely with a new team of professionals to create an engaging, supportive, and therapeutic learning environment.
  • Collaborative Atmosphere: Participate in regular team meetings, contribute to individual education plans (IEPs), and work with therapists and other educators.
  • Professional Growth: Opportunities for continuous professional development and training in SEMH and innovative teaching methods.
  • Permanent Opportunity: This role starts in September and is intended to become a permanent position following a successful probation period.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that make the most of the unique floating classroom environment.
  • Foster a safe and supportive learning space that enhances both educational and emotional development.
  • Monitor and assess students’ progress, adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for each child.
  • Promote social, emotional, and physical well-being through creative and interactive teaching methods.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong adaptability and creativity to utilize the floating classroom setting effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
