justteachers are looking for Specialist Support Staff to work within a Special Educational Needs School and College in the Preston area to work with students with Physical Disabilities and Various Complex Needs.  We are seeking individuals who are looking for a transition from care, special needs work, youth work, childcare or other vulnerable people into working with SEN pupils in Primary, Secondary and Further Education provisions.

Ideal candidates will have experience in some of the below:

  • Working with Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), Visual Impairment, Epilepsy, Sensory Impairment, Physical Disabilities, Speech Language and Communicational Needs including Non-Verbal, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Behavioural Needs and Autism
  • Have experience in the last 6 months working with children or adults with various complex or physical disabilities
  • It is desirable if you have any of the following training; Makaton, PECS, BSL, Team Teach, Manual Handling, Safeguarding, Epilepsy Training but it is not essential
  • Happy to work with pupils on a 1:1 or group basis and willing to work with students of all ages from 5 years to 25 years old
  • Work well under pressure and are happy to work in challenging environments
  • Compassionate, Resilient and Flexbile
  • An ability to improvise and support others in impromptu situations
