Position: Mental Health Support Worker

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Role Overview: As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work closely with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties, offering practical assistance, emotional support, and guidance to help them navigate their journey towards recovery and stability. Your role will be varied and rewarding, encompassing activities such as one-on-one support sessions, group facilitation, and liaising with external agencies to ensure holistic care for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing emotional support and encouragement to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
  2. Assisting clients with daily tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, and household chores.
  3. Facilitating group activities and workshops aimed at promoting social interaction and skill development.
  4. Collaborating with healthcare professionals and support networks to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  5. Advocating for the rights and needs of clients within the community and healthcare settings.

Requirements:

  1. Empathy and Compassion: Demonstrated ability to empathize with individuals facing mental health difficulties and provide non-judgmental support and encouragement.
  2. Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients and colleagues.
  3. Resilience: The capacity to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and adapt to the evolving needs of clients.
  4. Teamwork: A collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team, sharing insights and expertise to enhance the quality of care.
  5. Relevant Experience: Previous experience working in a mental health support role or similar capacity is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.
  6. Qualifications: A relevant qualification in mental health, social care, psychology, or a related field is advantageous.
  7. Enhanced DBS Check: Successful completion of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
