Autism Support Worker

Justteachers are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed Autism Support Worker in King’s Lynn. This role includes supporting pupils from  8.30- 15:30 with a daily staff meeting until 16.00 Monday to Friday.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting students with special needs within a school
  • Providing pastoral support to students
  • To support students learning, development and provide care
  • To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development
  • To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all time

You will ideally:

  • Have experience working within either an education or care environment, or as a youth or social worker
  • Experience working with special needs and/or challenging behaviours
  • The ability to communicate with and inspire children of all abilities.
  • Be happy to work with pupils on both a 1:1 and/or group basis
  • Energy, enthusiasm and vision
  • The ability to improvise and support others in impromptu situations
  • The ability to communicate with and inspire children of all abilities
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and use de-escalation strategies
  • Be passionate, friendly and outgoing and able to inspire and motivate learners
  • Be flexible, creative and have an active interest in working with SEND pupils
  • Be able to provide two references from an education or care provider, or other relevant setting
