Job Description: We are looking for an experienced and proactive IT Technician to join a busy secondary school in Bury. The successful candidate will provide technical support and ensure the smooth operation of the school’s IT systems, including hardware, software, and network infrastructure. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for IT.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide first-line IT support to staff and students across the school.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain and update the school’s computer systems, ensuring all hardware and software are operating efficiently.
• Install, configure, and upgrade IT equipment such as computers, printers, projectors, and interactive whiteboards.
• Support the school’s network infrastructure, including servers, switches, and Wi-Fi.
• Assist in managing the school’s IT inventory, including asset tracking and reporting.
• Ensure the security of the IT systems by implementing and maintaining security protocols, including antivirus software and firewalls.
• Provide support for the school’s MIS (Management Information System) and ensure data integrity.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to provide technical support for IT-based learning resources.
• Help manage IT projects such as system upgrades, software rollouts, and equipment installations.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in an IT support role, ideally within an educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Office 365, and Google Workspace.
• Understanding of network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, DNS, and Active Directory.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support non-technical users.
• A proactive approach to IT maintenance and problem prevention.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Relevant qualifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or equivalent are desirable.
