Job Description: Justteachers is currently seeking a dedicated and inspiring Secondary Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Oldham, Greater Manchester. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging RE lessons to students across KS3 and KS4, promoting understanding, tolerance, and respect for diverse religious beliefs and ethical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality RE lessons that adhere to the national curriculum and foster a deep understanding of world religions and ethical issues.
  • Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore different perspectives and develop their critical thinking skills.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and varying abilities.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and supporting students in reaching their full potential.
  • Prepare students for GCSE RE exams, ensuring they are well-versed in key religious texts, philosophical arguments, and ethical dilemmas.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enrichment of the RE curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant and engaging for students.
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and open-mindedness towards different cultures and belief systems.
  • Participate in school events, parent evenings, and extracurricular activities that enhance students’ understanding of Religious Education and its role in society.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in Religious Education, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching RE at the secondary school level (KS3 and KS4).
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks for Religious Education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to creating a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • A passion for Religious Education and a commitment to helping students explore complex moral and philosophical questions.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community through participation in school events and extracurricular activities.
