Job Description: Justteachers is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and reflective RE lessons to students across KS3 and KS4, promoting understanding and respect for diverse religious beliefs and ethical viewpoints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality RE lessons that align with the national curriculum, fostering students’ understanding of world religions, ethics, and philosophy.
  • Develop a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages open dialogue and respect for different perspectives.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and varying abilities.
  • Use a variety of assessment methods to track and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their academic and personal development.
  • Prepare students for GCSE RE exams, helping them develop critical thinking, analytical, and evaluative skills.
  • Contribute to the development and enrichment of the RE curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant, engaging, and thought-provoking.
  • Encourage students to reflect on moral and ethical issues and to develop their own viewpoints in a respectful and informed manner.
  • Participate in school activities, such as parent evenings and extracurricular events, to support students’ broader development and understanding of Religious Education.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in Religious Education, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching RE at the secondary school level (KS3 and KS4).
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks for Religious Education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities.
  • Strong classroom management skills, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
  • A passion for Religious Education and a commitment to promoting understanding and tolerance of diverse beliefs.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community through participation in professional development and extracurricular activities.
