justteachers is seeking a passionate and experienced SENCO to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Leyland. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional who is committed to ensuring all students, regardless of their educational needs, achieve their full potential. As the SENCO, you will play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disabilities, promoting a positive learning environment, and working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development of the school’s SEN provision, ensuring compliance with the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Coordinate and deliver SEN support across the school, focusing on raising the achievement of all SEN students.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans and support strategies for students with SEN.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers and senior leaders to embed inclusive practices.
  • Support and train staff in understanding SEN and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure effective support and communication.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and progress.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or working towards it is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a SENCO or in a similar SEN leadership role.
  • Excellent understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
