Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teacher to join our team. This role involves working with students who exhibit very challenging behavior, designing and delivering tailored educational programs that support their academic and emotional development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SEMH settings and a strong commitment to fostering an environment that promotes learning and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH needs.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to support each student’s unique learning requirements.
• Utilize effective behavior management strategies to support students in regulating their emotions and behaviors.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and reports to students, parents, and senior staff.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEMH education.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Significant experience teaching students with SEMH needs, preferably in an alternative provision setting.
• Strong understanding of SEMH and effective behavior management techniques.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging behaviors.
