Join our partner schools dedicated team at a specialized educational institution in Boston committed to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to work with students exhibiting challenging behaviours.

As a Teaching Assistant at our SEMH school, you will play a pivotal role in providing individualized support to students who may face difficulties in managing their emotions and behaviours. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Assisting teachers in implementing tailored learning plans for students with SEMH needs.
• Providing one-on-one support and guidance to students during classroom activities and interventions.
• Helping to create a safe and nurturing learning environment conducive to the social and emotional development of students.
• Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and behaviour specialists, to address the unique needs of each student.
• Implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques to support students in regulating their emotions and behaviours.
• Monitoring and recording student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to the teaching team as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
• Empathy, patience, and resilience in working with students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
• Knowledge of behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• A commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the school community.
• Relevant qualifications or training in education, psychology, counseling, or related fields are desirable but not essential.
