Justteachers are  seeking an experienced and dedicated SEMH Teacher on behalf of a reputable school in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. The Role: The SEMH Teacher will be responsible for delivering tailored educational support to students with SEMH needs. The successful candidate will work closely with other teachers, support staff, and external professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH requirements.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of students, providing regular feedback and adapting teaching methods as needed.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes emotional well-being and academic achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Engage with parents and carers to provide updates on student progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEMH education.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience teaching students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH issues and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the development of young people.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a diverse workload.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or training in special education or SEMH.
  • Experience working in a secondary school environment.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and restorative approaches.
