ENTERING the UK to LIVE and WORK:
No one resource can promise to tell you all you need to
know about living and teaching in the UK. But Justteachers
have tried to cover it all!
The key things to remember may be:
- Britain is a safe haven for many refugees, asylum seekers and migrants
- Britain is part of the European Union, NATO and the Commonwealth, so it observes international Human Rights laws
- The UK will not return anyone to a dangerous country where they are at serious risk
- You will not be allowed to starve or be homeless if you are here, even if you are not entitled to be here
- If you are entitled to be here, you can apply for British citizenship
- Usually if you are entitled to be here you will be allowed to work
- Many countries have special arrangements with the UK to pay benefits to each other's citizens
- If you get a UK work permit it will usually be for a specific job
- There are lots of ways to get help into work
- If you are a legal worker you will enjoy the full protection of all UK laws
